This season of bowl games and holidays is moving right along. That makes easy fodder for writers. One such theme is Christmas wishes. The Daily Graze is not familiar with anyone who actually makes Christmas wishes, but is open-minded enough to suppose it is possible.   Sports Talk Florida has imagined a USF wish list for Christmas, which includes a bowl win (after Christmas) and recruiting (also after Christmas).

Looking Back

The USF women’s basketball team continues to dominate foes, handing UNLV a 30 point beating on Wednesday. Kitija Laksa knocked down 30 points for the Bulls, shooting 60% from the field. Maria Jespersen notched a double-double, with 12 points and 18 rebounds.

Not to be outdone, the men’s basketball team turned out their own blowout win, beating Delaware by a score of 81-53 . It is not thirty points, but it is pretty close. Geno Thorpe and Tulio Da Silva each scored 18 in the second game since losing big scoring threat, Jahmal McMurray, to transfer.

Looking Forward

College Baseball Central has a feature story on the USF baseball team, 57 days before the season begins. The Bulls finished 2015 in the NCAA tournament, but slipped under second year head coach, Mark Kingston, ending 2016 24-33.

According to one of the best college football reporters for getting the inside scoop, Brett McMurphy is saying the Big 12 is moving to 11 teams in 2017.

Let the offseason speculation begin. USF fans have to like the position they’re in right now. A possible win over an SEC team in a bowl game for an 11 win season with a high profile coaching hire, combined with a regular season top 25 ranking.

**********EDIT:  This was apparently a joke.  Apologies.***********

Other Stuff

Earlier this week, the Daily Graze shared a story about Christian McAffrey and Leonard Fournette’s decisions to skip their respective bowl games. That was shared without a tie to USF, but simply as an interest story to college football fans. As it turns out, USF has turned up in one story about those two players.
