Two Bulls have been named to national award watch lists.  Senior quarterback, Quinton Flowers, has been named to the Maxwell Award watch list, which seeks to recognize the best overall player in college football.  Senior cornerback, Deatrick Nichols, has been added to the Bednarik Award watch list.  The Bednarik award is given to the top defensive player in college football.

It’s not exactly news that the American Athletic Conference added a basketball-only member in Wichita State.  What might be, though, is that they’re already considered the best team in the league.

The USF baseball team has a new head coach.  The university has announced that former USF pitching coach, Billy Mohl, has been promoted to head coach.  He will continue to serve as pitching coach for the team.  Mohl is replacing Mark Kingston, who left USF for the same job at South Carolina.

The Tampa Bulls have advanced in The Basketball Tournament.  Half of the team that call themselves the Tampa Bulls were on the 2012 USF team that made the NCAA tournament.  The remainder of the team consists of other former USF Bulls, like Dominique Jones and area high school stars like Robinson’s Terrence Leathers.  The Tampa Bulls have posted wins in the first two rounds of the tournament.  In the first round, they beat Seven City Grain, 94-88.  In the second, they took down the Kentucky Kings, 88-87.  In their next game, they will face the #1 seed Overseas Elite.

Former USF men’s basketball player, Bo Zeigler, is headed to George Washington.
