National Signing Day 2017 has arrived, setting the college football world up for plenty of drama. High school seniors around the country are planning to make their big announcements on this day. Most readers of this blog will be inundated with tweets, emails, and news flashes with the latest on who is lighting up the fax machine at any particular moment. Because this blog won’t be doing much of that, a precap is being offered in lieu of an instant recap. Using the best information available, the following is just as certain as a college football recruit before signing day.

For the most part, USF”s committed recruits had already done so prior to the departure of former head coach, Willie Taggart. Since several have left to follow Taggart to Oregon, some new spots have opened up. For the sake of precapping signing day, the first group listed will be those who have been verbally committed to USF for some time.

It is noteworthy that neither Scout nor Rivals rates any USF commit to be more than three stars. 247 Sports, who uses a composite score to average the ratings of other recruiting services, also provides their own rating. They disagreed with their peers five times in this group, rating four stars where their composite averaged three. The next group include all recruits who have taken official visits at USF, but are either committed elsewhere or still uncommitted.

The big fish in the final group is obviously five star defensive lineman, Marvin Wilson. Wilson was recruited by USF head coach, Charlie Strong, when Strong was still at Texas. When Strong was fired, Wilson dropped Texas and added USF to his final five. He had an official visit scheduled on 1/20, but that did not happen.
It won’t be long, now, before those fax machines start squealing.
