After several days of media frenzy over the football coaching vacancy and then hiring of Charlie Strong, USF will make their formal introduction of their new coach today at 10:30 AM.

Looking back

Seven #22/19 USF women basketball players scored in double digits to secure the win over St. Francis for the Bulls. In doing so, they set a new program scoring record in their 129-80 win over the Red Flashes. The prior record was 126, set against Grambling in 2009.

Looking Forward

The Gamecocks are getting ready for the Bulls.

There has been a lot of discussion about how the new high profile coaching hires will affect recruiting in the state of Florida. Rivals says it won’t change much.

MSN’s Rich Cirminiello writes about how bowl games will launch next year’s breakout players. USF quarterback, Quinton Flowers, is tops on that list.

Other Stuff

While USF was in contract negotiations with Charlie Strong, media rumors circled that former coach, Willie Taggart, was trying to get Strong to move to Oregon. Later reports contradicted that claim. Taggart has, however, gone after a different USF coach, former head coach Jim Leavitt.

USF will continue their celebration of Hispanic Heritage during Saturday’s matchup with #16/15 South Carolina. Gamecock’s head coach, Frank Martin, and USF’s head coach, Orlando Antigua, make up 2/3 of the Hispanic head coaches in the NCAA Division I.
