The USF Bulls escape intact for the third straight game, with their opponent threatening to take the win late in the fourth quarter. The Bulls managed to hold on, with a final defensive stand on their own 14 yard line. SMU faced a 4th and one and opted to go for the conversion. They came up less than a yard short of the marker, turning the ball over on downs.

USF quarterback, Quinton Flowers, passed for 195 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the game. He also rushed for 142 yards, with a long of 41.   Running back, Marlon Mack, also had a solid game, rushing 129 yards and a touchdown. On the receiving end of those Flowers’ yards was Tyre McCants, who 105 yards and two scores.

For the Mustangs, Ben Hicks had a very good game, passing for 385 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the loss. Courtland Sutton, SMU receiver, had 252 yards and two touchdowns, one of them going for more than 50 yards.

USF, 9-2 (6-1) will host I4 neighbor, UCF, in their final game of the regular season at Raymond James Stadium.

SMU drops to 5-6 (3-4) on the year, remaining ineligible for a bowl appearance. Their next game is agay.ainst Navy in Dallas on 11-26.
