In the same week that the USF men’s basketball team extended their losing streak to four games at the hands of FIU, the USF women embarrassed the FIU women on their own court, 82-52.

The Bulls led every minute of the game, finishing the first quarter with a 23-9 lead and 42-25 advantage at the halftime break.

Four USF players finished in double-digit scoring in the dominating win.  Surprisingly, Kitija Laksa was not one of them.  Laksa, who led her team with 40 points in a 108-48 humiliation of Southern University just two days prior, was just 2-11 from the field and an astonishing 0-7 from beyond the arc.  Her lack of production, especially from three pointers, was a surprise because she set an NCAA record for making 11 straight 3 pointers against Southern.

Picking up the slack for the Bulls was Laia Flores, who had 19 points.  Laura Ferreira and Maria Jespersen scored 16 apiece, while Alyssa Rader put up 11.  Jespersen also had ten rebounds for a double-double.

Kiandre’a Pound carried the load for the Panthers, scoring 17 points with nine rebounds.  No other FIU player scored more than ten points.  FIU drops to 2-7 with the loss.  They will host North Dakota State on Wednesday, 12/20.

The #22/16 Bulls improve to 8-2 on the season, with their next game against the 6-3 Dayton Flyers on Wednesday, 12/20.  Their only losses came at the hands of then #6 Notre Dame and a five point heartbreaker to unranked Oklahoma.
