The University of South Florida has concluded its stadium feasibility study.  The study proposes four different locations for a $200 million, 50,000 seat stadium on or adjacent to the university’s main campus in Tampa.  Three of the proposed locations would feature prominently on Fowler Avenue.

One would be at the corner of Fowler and Bruce B. Downs Blvd., another would be where the Herd of Thunder holds their practices near the recreation fields, and the third would be where MOSI currently sits, on the opposite side of Fowler.  The MOSI property will become available after the museum fulfills plans to relocate downtown.  The final proposed location would be on Pine Ave., near the USF Botanical Gardens.USF Stadium Locations

The study finds that if the university had the money, which they do not, it would still be five to seven years before the stadium would become reality.  If the Board of Trustees approves of one of these proposals when they meet next, more detailed planning would begin soon after.

USF claims that the stadium will not be publicly funded and that no education funds would be used to finance the stadium.  A student fee is a possibility, and other fundraising methods are still being considered.

The Bulls currently share Raymond James Stadium with the NFL’s Buccaneers and are one of the few major college football programs to not have their own stadium on or near campus.
