The collegiate post-season continues.

Looking Back

Former USF quarterback, Stephen Bench, has been arrested for burglary.  He is alleged to have broken into a car wash on Kennedy Blvd., triggered and alarm, and then broke the glass of the front door to escape.  Bench transferred to USF from Penn State and started just three times for the Bulls.

USF sailing ended their season finishing 16th in the ICSA Nationals.  It was their fifth appearance in the past six years.

The Bulls’ track and field season ended in the preliminary rounds.

For the second time within a week, the USF baseball team has handed UCF a championship.  The Knights annihilated the Bulls, 12-0 in a game where USF managed just two hits.  Beating the Bulls and winning both the regular season and the tournament championships earned the Knights a spot in the NCAA tournament, a two seed in the Tallahassee regional.  Because Houston was co-champion of the conference, they also got a piece of the auto-bid awarded.

Looking Forward

Despite the ugly finish to the 2017 baseball season, losing seven of the last ten games, the once top-25 ranked Bulls managed to get their own ticket to the NCAA tournament.  They were granted a #2 seed in Gainesville regional, hosted by UF.  Because UCF and USF were seeded in different brackets, and those two in particular, they would not have an opportunity to knock each other off until the Final Four.  Houston, the only other team to make it to the tournament, would also not compete with UCF or USF until the Final Four round.  The American Athletic Conference placed sixth amongst all conferences with three teams to make the tournament.

The Bulls get a mention in this prediction of who makes it to Omaha in the Omaha World-Herald.  They note USF’s top notched pitching a reason to not rule them out.

USF’s volleyball youth camps are beginning soon.
