The academic year-end tournaments continue.

Looking Back

The Bulls’ baseball team swapped ranking positions with UCF after the Knights took two games of their three game series, last week.  In addition to knocking USF out of the top 25, the Knights won a share of the regular season championship and the #1 seed in the conference tournament.  USF entered the weekend alone at #1 in the conference and the only ranked team in the league.  UCF holds both of those positions, now.  The Bulls will get their chance at revenge in the tournament against the Knights.  USF won their first round game against Tulane, 7-6 on Tuesday night.  Two days later, another easy win was expected against 8th seed, ECU.  The Pirates did not get the memo, and shocked the Bulls, winning 6-5 in the ninth inning on Thursday.  USF took a 5-3 lead in to the final inning of play.

USF men’s tennis was represented by Sasha Gozun in the NCAA singles tournamentHe was knocked out in the field of 32, second round, on Thursday

Looking Forward

USF head football coach, Charlie Strong, has made ESPN’s list of first year coaches who need “to win right away.”  He is joined in the “no excuses” category by the coach who replaced him at Texas, Tom Herman, and LSU’s Ed Orgeron.

Next up for USF baseball will be the final rematch of the season with UCF in the elimination game.  The Knights lost in the first round to ECU, who beat the Bulls in the second round.  In UCF’s second round, they eliminated Tulane, who had lost to USF in round one.  The Bulls and Knights will clash at Clearwater’s Spectrum Field, today, at 3 PM.
