The USF football spring camp has ended and the Spring Game is history. Now begins the long march of summer, the prelude to the next time fans will see their football players in action. In spite of that, there is still a lot to know and talk about.

Looking Back

The Spring Game was, by most accounts, a winner for the Bulls. Fans got a chance to see redshirt freshman Chris Oladokun duke it out with redshirt sophomore, Brett Kean.

USF’s baseball team hung on to beat UNF 4-2, on Wednesday. The team is 30-7 and just the 11th team in the nation to hit 30 wins this season. The Bulls escaped losing a three game series to Cincinnati over the weekend, beating the Bearcats 4-2 on Sunday.

Looking Forward

The USF football team received a verbal commitment from South Dade tight end, Chris Carter. Carter is 6-3, 230 pounds, and rated three stars by the services. His other top offers were from UCF and Illinois.

The USF men’s basketball team remains in the shambles it has been since the firing of former head coach, Stan Heath, after which the top players left the program. The team has continued to bleed talent on an annual basis. The bleeding continues. Michael Bibby Jr., guard, has announced that he is leaving the program. He joins Malik Fitts, who is trying to get to Arizona, Ruben Guerrero, Luis Santos, Geno Thorpe, Yito Alvarado, and Bo Zeigler in leaving USF. Incoming coach, Brian Gregory, has just four scholarship players left. They will have some help with Penn State graduate transfer, Payton Banks and Fairleigh Dickinson University graduate transfer, Stephan Jiggetts. Banks plays forward and Jiggetts is a point guard.

The Fort Myers News-Press notes the talent from Immokalee poised to help USF reach their football goals.

The Oracle has three predictions for USF football. The do not include winning a championship or an on-campus stadium.

Charlie Strong has not parsed his words or made allusions. He wants USF in one of the playoff conferences, period.
