Spring Break is but a memory for USF students. And, perhaps for some, memories lost. The football team is back at it today, returning to camp for the first time after the break. They’ll continue to adapt to the new coaching philosophies being installed by Charlie Strong and company. Fans will get a peek at that new offense at the April 15th Spring Game.

Looking Back

The Toronto Observer continues their unlikely series on USF softball players. Catcher, Morgan Gross, is the most recent subject of Observer’s observations.

Softball infielder, Samantha Worrell, was named AAC Player of the Week. Four of her last eight hits have been homeruns.

Looking Forward

Today is Pro Day at USF. Former running back, Marlon Mack, and receiver, Rodney Adams, will be headlining the event. Both players had good showings at the combine, but hope to make a bigger splash today, when the focus will be on them.

The Bulls were known to be an offensive powerhouse on the football field in 2016. The fielded one of the top scoring offenses in the country. The new coaching staff wants them to do it all again, but faster. They will be incorporating a hurry-up, no-huddle version of their offense. Another new twist will be how plays are relayed to the offense. The responsibility for relaying the offensive play call to the team is now in the hands of the running backs, who will then pass it on to the offensive line. The play will only be given one time and the back will have only one chance to get it right. That’s probably a foolproof plan. Or, perhaps it’s something else.

USF baseball is coming off a four game sweep of Harvard that increased their winning streak to 18 games, with just one loss on the season. They have a current RPI of 19 and are finally starting to get some attention in the rankings. They’re ranked 23rd in the National Baseball Writers Association poll and an unofficial 28th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, where they are getting 51 vote points. Tonight, USF will host North Florida. Tomorrow, they will travel to Florida Gulf Coast, who is ranked in the top 20 of all national polls. Both teams have wins over #11 FSU.
